Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is his first title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

The win also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at 21 different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to force a third set.

Moutet defended four early-game chances in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
